Visit Valley Oaks Charter School Tehachapi Website. Valley Oaks Charter School (VOCS) was established in 2000 by the office of Kern County Superintendent of Schools to provide support for parents/families that choose to homeschool their children. VOCS is a tuition-free parent choice/parent participation program which allows parents the flexibility to create individual educational courses of study for their children. Serving grades K-12, at five different locations in Kern County, we are passionate about providing the best education possible for our students. Working together with parents/families, we strive to make our students become academic achievers, communicators, critical thinkers, culturally aware and productive citizens that are technologically literate and self-directed individuals. VOCS is fully accredited through Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and we are dedicated to helping those that choose to homeschool.

We strive to support homeschooling families in the Kern River Valley and surrounding areas by providing abundant materials, social opportunities for the whole family, and much more. Students are able to check our curriculum, math manipulative kits, science kits, and just about anything else you may need to provide your student with a well-rounded, hands-ons education. They meet weekly to attend an enrichment class led by a resource teacher, and parents host frequent social events such as field trips and parties. Kern River Valley Oaks students have access to the on-site library and computer lab and are able to access the many resources available in Bakersfield as well.
