WELCOME TO 6th-12th DRAMA!
AUDITION TIPS
Q: How can I prepare for the audition?
A: Preparation is key! Read through the audition sides above and see which characters spark your interest! Print them out and read through them several times a day to become familiar with them. Remember Ms. Chris’ advice about reading it slowly first, and marking it up with pauses, and ideas of movement. You do not need to memorize it, but it will be impressive if you do. (All actors will have access to the sides during the audition)
Q: Any other tips on auditioning?
A: Project, project, project! Make sure we can hear you 🙂 Get lots of rest the night before, eat a healthy breakfast/lunch, drink lots of water, and be familiar with the sides. Dress comfortably so you can move around, and try not to wear distracting clothes. Take a few deep breaths before you go up and remember to annunciate, pause when it feels natural, and have fun!! Be confident and happy and whatever you do…DON’T tell us that you didn’t study, you don’t feel well, or that you are nervous. Smile and enjoy this experience!
*AND MOST IMPORTANT….It is NORMAL to have nerves on audition day, just don’t focus on them…focus on telling a story….on being a character! (The nerves get better the more you rehearse)
Q: What if I don’t get the part I wanted?!!
A: Sometimes we don’t get what we want, but many times it is a blessing in disguise! Be happy with any part you get and do your best! The more experience you get, the better you become! You want to be able to play a wide range of characters! Remember to be HUMBLE and thankful!
